Q: How much power does KCEP run?
KCEP tower is located on Black Mountain and broadcast 10,000 watts.
Q: Occasionally I experience poor reception. Does KCEP ever change its power?
No. KCEP operates 24/7 at the same power. However, certain weather conditions can occasionally affect the reception of FM stations. Fog or haze is usually an indicator that the right combination of atmospheric conditions (humidity, wind, and ground/air temperature differences) may be present to allow FM signals to travel much farther than they normally do.
Q: How long has KCEP been on the air?
KCEP began as an FM station in 1972, broadcasting 5 for 5 blocks. In the 1980's with community donations it was able to establish a tower on Black Mountain and began broadcasting 10,000 watts.
Q: Who owns KCEP?
Since 1972, KCEP has been owned and operated by The Economic Opportunity Board of Clark County. KCEP is a rare, independent, locally owned and operated radio station.
Q: How can I underwrite on KCEP?
Contact our underwriting manager, Vanetta Pease, at (702) 648-0104. For a complete overview, visit our Underwriting page.
Q: Does KCEP use interns?
KCEP occasionally invites serious students to intern, primarily in day-to-day operations. However, other interests in broadcasting will be considered. Interest should be expressed to KCEP Program Manager Craig Knight at 702-648-0104
