Q: Occasionally I experience poor reception. Does KCEP ever change its power?

No. KCEP operates 24/7 at the same power. However, certain weather conditions can occasionally affect the reception of FM stations. Fog or haze is usually an indicator that the right combination of atmospheric conditions (humidity, wind, and ground/air temperature differences) may be present to allow FM signals to travel much farther than they normally do.

Q: How long has KCEP been on the air?

KCEP began as an FM station in 1972, broadcasting 5 for 5 blocks. In the 1980's with community donations it was able to establish a tower on Black Mountain and began broadcasting 10,000 watts.
