THE AFTERNOON JOY RIDE

Hello, my name is Joy LaShawn.

Many of my years were well spent in the wonderful business of radio broadcasting.

I got my debut in Toledo, Ohio in 1976 as a receptionist for an AM station.

Clients that call into the station to book appointments would often express

how much they liked my voice and began requesting that I personally record their commercials

for them.

At that time, even then I hadn’t realized that this would be my undeniable calling.

I love the mystique of radio.

When I meet people, they’ll often say “now I can put the face to the voice”, or “you don’t look like you sound”, and I get a kick out of that.

Being on the mic is truly where my passions lie.

The yearn for it grew stronger and stronger by the day.

My broadcast experience varied in ranges from Urban to Country Western throughout

Cleveland Ohio, Houston, Los Angeles and now currently in the amazing Las Vegas Nevada

with KCEP which I love dearly.

I had the honor of being inducted into Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2017.

With the ultimate dedication to serve the community is the truest reward.

It’s not only an honor to contribute to multifaceted areas and businesses of our urban communities, it’s also an absolute pleasure interviewing and connecting our listeners with celebrities who visit the station on a daily basis of which some that I’ve known for many years.

I’ve had the great privilege to be part of an evolution as the broadcasting industry evolved over the years.

It’s been an ongoing learning experience here at KCEP because of its continuous goal to reach all levels of modern technology, innovation and ingenuity to build a stronger community in every manner possible.

I am a Certified Life Coach, an Online Boutique Owner, Brand Ambassador and an On-Air Personality here with The All New Power 88.1.

I co-host The Afternoon JoyRide show with the one and only Joy Lashawn ~ “Diva of Flava”,

Monday – Saturdays 1-3pm, keeping the afternoon party going with all the music you know and love, bringing you nothing but ear pleasures and soul treasures.

I have a passion for all genres of music however above all my soul has a unique adoration for old school Classics. I’m an old school junkie!

I strive daily to model a fine connoisseur of exuding selfless servitude where it matters most, blazing the trail for generations to come.

I have served as a volunteer with KCEP since February 2019 in the membership department as a Membership Coordinator where we value our members.

I am in eternal pursuit of joining forces with our community leaders to educate, inspire and motivate our communities near and abroad.

It brings me utter pleasure to serve our listeners with not only the best music but also provide resources to bridge the gaps in communities with the latest updates and information.

I not only take on the priceless stance in supporting upward mobility in our immediate areas but am destined to reach other communities globally.

KCEP is undeniably a stellar pillar in our community. I am proud to serve as a catalyst to our Mission and Vision.
